At least 12 new lynx cubs have been born in the Guadiana Valley in Portugal.

3 females have been detected on the many camera traps in the release area with 4 cubs each.
Jacaranda, who was the first female to be released in Portugal in 2014 and who was also the first to give birth – to precious ‘Nossa‘ the first wild born Iberian lynx in Portugal in 30 years.

The other two females are Mirandilla and Malva who have also had 4 cubs each, for wild lynx these are large litters, which shows just how optimal this area is for this species.
Excitingly, there are another 5 females in the wild in Portugal so there could easily be more cubs as yet undetected to follow.
